‘Playful Sophistication’ From Akpos Okudu

March 23rd, 2011

Akpos Okudu is a fashion line that focuses on dressing women. Now I know that there are many of these around, but what makes each one of them different is their general style. Akpos Okudu has a style that is all its own. The fashion line is run by Akpos Okudu A.K.A the Ijaw Girl. I first saw her designs on her blog which I stumbled upon (thank God for links). I actually went ‘oooooh’ in my head (no lie). Now, I’m an all-black-everything-and-trousers kinda girl when it comes to clothes, but Akpos Okudu’s spring/summer 2011 collection (pictured here) makes me want to wear color and fluttery soft dresses.
The first thing I thought after the incoherent ‘oooooh’ was ‘I could definitely wear one of these on my first date’ (hehe not that i’m planning any *sigh*). Their designs are so many things at once- colorful, bright, chic, effortless, classy, soft, and girly- made even more so by their mix of silky and satiny fabrics. I’m thinking I’ll have to settle for sporting one of these at a girly tea party with my Babes *double sigh*
Akpos Okudu explains the inspiration behind her creations here. You really should read it- it’s a lovely little piece. If this snippet isn’t enough eye candy, you can see more of her collections here. You could also get a more personal feel of her by visiting her blog Ijaw Girl, or check out her website or/and contact her here.
